Government extends deadline to apply for NCLT Secretary, Registrar posts

NEW DELHI:

As the government continues the process for setting up of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), it has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the posts of Secretary and Registrar of the tribunal.

In an advertisement, the government has said the revised deadline for submitting applications for the two posts has been extended till January 31.

The tribunal, to be set up under the Companies Act, 2013, will replace the Company Law Board (CLB).

The earlier deadline for sending in applications was December 10.

The government in October had sought applications for the post of Registrar and Secretary. The Secretary and the Registrar will be in the pay band of Rs 37,400-67,000.

The appointment will be for a period of one year.

During the Winter session of Parliament, Corporate Affairs Minister Arun Jaitley had said the process for constitution of NCLT has already been initiated, with "the selection process for (judicial as well as technical) members of NCLT and technical members of National Company Law Appellate Tribunal ( NCLAT) having commenced".

Steps have also been taken to make provisions for infrastructure and other supportive requirements for the tribunals, he had said.

The Companies Act, 2013, provides for setting up the tribunal that would replace the CLB.

The Ministry has already made a series of changes to the Companies Act, 2013, most provisions of which came into effect from April 1, 2014. Besides, various rules have been amended.

NCLT would also have a president besides other judicial and technical members
